FRENCH SOCIAL STUDIES

French/English Elementary School Children in the 1st and 2nd grade will develop their knowledge of space and time. They will learn how to situate themselves through familiar pictures or situations. Our 1st and 2nd grade teachers will help students understand the environment in which they live and the available materials around them, in addition to developing their curiosity for invention and their sense of innovation. Teachers will progressively encourages their students to create small technical projects. Students will learn to manipulate and build, then observe, compare, and classify. With time, they acquire and use a better-developed vocabulary and syntax. They become acquainted with more varied and remote spaces, other eras, and phenomena from the world of matter and from the living world. This type of knowledge paves the way for progressive structuring applicable to distinct subject matters. In 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, students will learn to understand today's world and act upon it as a free and responsible individual. Through their study of world history and geography, students will learn to be active citizens in a diverse world. Having learned to locate landmarks in time and space during the 1st and 2nd grade, and while continuing to reinforce previously-acquired knowledge, students will begin to confront both disciplines based on the example of France in a European and global setting. |
