SCIENCE

French/English Elementary School

Following the accredited French curriculum, science in the French/English program will be taught in French. We believe that the study of science should enable students to better understand the world around them. Whenever possible, the teachers plan "hands-on" science activities - not just as a means of active learning, but also as opportunities for students to utilize knowledge gained in language and mathematics.

Acquiring skills in the "scientific method" of discovery plays a key role in the science curriculum, particularly in grades two through five. Other methods utilized include teacher-led lessons, group discussions, and individual worksheets and projects. Field trips to local science museums and special guest speakers also enrich the science curriculum.

The science curriculum will include the following unit topics: Unity and Diversity of the Living World, The Human Body and Health Education, The Earth and Sky, Matter and Energy, and Technological Objects and Creations.
