| Destination Imagination Team
The 7th grade ISTP Destination Imagination team, Linoleum Blownapart, won 1st place out of 13 teams in the DIsigning Bridges challenge, middle school level in Clovis on Saturday April 9, 2005. The team members are Matthew Colford, Natalie Morin, Marc Slakey (former student), Blake Tacklind, Claire Uscherson, and Sarah Winters, and their team manager Chris Tacklind. This presentation had to include a bridge (they made a dental bridge!) that linked two cultures together and a real bridge made entirely out of wood, glue, and/ or fishing line. Weights were put on the bridge to see how much it would hold. Their bridge held 425 pounds, whereas the bridge only weighed about as much as a stick of butter, less than 150 grams! The team also won a special award, known as the DaVinci Award, for creativity and originality in their solution. The team’s parents and the 5th grade DI team were all at the State Tournament, cheering them on.
