For Read 2004, sponsored by Scholastic, third graders at ISTP read silently for 2004 sustained seconds! The children brought something comfy and picked a spot in the classroom to sprawl out and read a chapter book for 33.4 seconds. It was an awesome sight! Brooksville, otherwise known as the ISP third grade English, is on the world map for Scholastic's Read 2004. Countries all over the world read for this occasion, although we don't know how many were as comfortable as our third graders. It was a great way to celebrate the incoming New Year. We will continue to have Books and Blankets periodically through the year. It's a real treat for everyone, including Mrs. Brooks!
