Australia Day assembly
for the 3rd - 5th graders
Last Tuesday, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders celebrated Australia Day with Jodie Williams and guest presenter Kenny Elvin.

Australia Day is the national holiday that celebrates the settlement of Australia and the Arboriginal People who have been living there for over 40, 000 years.

Kenny discussed the origins of the didgeridoo, and played a few tunes for the children. Jodie quizzed the students on some essential Australian vocabulary: KNACKERED, BARBIE, SNAG, CHOOK, GRIZZLE, and more.....

The students learned of the first Europeans who settled Australia and sang an old convict song: "Botany Bay"... singin': too ralli ooralli attity...

It was a great afternoon!
